With a constantly rising trend in the Japanese anime and Manga, users across the globe have put in a massive demand for their favorite streaming service, Netflix to become a resort for all the top available animes ever made.
And Netflix, being the best streaming service it is, abided by its customer’s requests and brought in some of the best anime on Netflix for its Canadian users to watch and enjoy!
This means you don’t need to access Netflix Japan in Canada to watch one of the best animes of all time.
As the demand rose, so did the number of shows that made their way into the Netflix library. Mind you, Netflix was thoughtful in its selection and brought in a diverse catalog from all genres like sci-fi, action, drama, fantasy, and whatnot.
Since anime is still an emerging field, there are a ton of titles to choose from. To make things easy, we have sorted out the 20 best anime on Netflix in Canada.
This list contains the best and the most diverse series and movies that you can think of, some from the famous Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki. They are as follows:
1. Death Note
Starting the list with the best anime one can think of, and we may be a bit biased on this one because Death Note happens to be one of our favorite animes of all time.
Light, a fairly mature and cunning teenager for his age, gets hold of a notebook from Ryuk, the angel of death, as we may call him, or a grim reaper.
The notebook enables light to sentence anyone to death under mysterious circumstances.
Light has rules, and these rules enable him to become a potential suspect of all those deaths or murders, as we call it.
2. FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
The recent adaptation of the old 2003 manga of the same name, which is also available on Netflix.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood revolves around the story of 2 alchemist brothers who try their weird sorcery in order to revive their mother from the dead.
But fate throws their spells back at them which cost one of them to lose his arm and leg, while the other one ends up losing his entire body.
In the midst of bringing everything back, they also have to deal with the atrocities of the evil that resides in their country.
3. Food Wars
Anime and food go a really long way back, and Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away and its scrumptious meals say it all.
Imagine if a non-food movie was so delicious to watch, how would this one look like.
Food Wars is an aspiring tale about a young chef who is happy taking care of his family food business with his father until he discovers the happening chef life of a culinary student with some of the top chefs from around the world. This one sure is a treat for our eyes.
4. Erased
Satoru, a 30-year-old man has the ability to travel in time, not years, months, or days into the past, but only a few minutes, which has helped him do countless things and even save countless lives.

That mystery causes him to travel 18 years in the past and find the root cause of her mother’s disappearance and potential murder, involving an old classmate who disappeared years ago.
5. Blue Exorcist
How would it sound if we said that this anime is about the son of Satan, who is under an apprenticeship to become an exorcist.
Yup, sounds weird, right? But that’s what this anime is about, and the irony is that Rin also inherited his father. Satan’s powers.
So along with fighting the demons on earth, he has some tough battles for himself too, which requires him to control the demons he had within.
6. One Piece
One Piece is a Japanese Manga series that is readily available for streaming on Netflix.
The latter is based on the comic of the same name that has received a ton of appreciation for its humor, art, and conceptualization.
Furthermore, it was even labeled as the best manga series of all time.
7. Parasyte: The Maxim
Parasyte is a sci-fi horror movie that revolves around the “alien” invasion of the said Parasyte on earth and its attempt to feed on the human brain and control it.
But in one case, things take an unexpected turn when instead of the brain, the parasite enters the arm of Shinichi and takes over it, while Shinichi takes complete control of his brain, and together as a team, they take on other parasites who try to attack them.
8. Attack on Titan
When a man-eating Titan tried to attack the humans and take over their planet, they built a massive wall that prevented them from entering earth for about 100 years.

9. Kill la Kill
The Elite Four have the school under their control at all times which makes them the superior ones, and no one has the ability to challenge their rule.
To make things worse, they have their Goku Uniforms that give them the ability to perform supernatural powers and rule their school.
Until a new girl in their batch threatens the Elite four, leading to a battle that soon consumes the whole school.
10. Aggretsuko
A comedic Japanese manga of a Yeti who is facing a midlife crisis. The show is very similar to what the youngsters of the 21st Century are going through in current times.
Retsuko is tired and frustrated with her life, which causes her to make irrational decisions that can affect her life and threaten it.
11. Your Name
Anime is not only about sci-fi, man-eating parasite, titans or bloody murders. There is romance in this one as well.
And there is nothing better than Your Name to show us that there is more to anime than we can imagine.
The story revolves around a high school boy in the city, who magically swaps bodies with a country-side girl in Japan.
From there they develop an interest in each other, and things get complicated, so they decide to meet each other.
12. Carole & Tuesday
Scripted in a land far far away, in terraformed Mars in the future, Carole and Tuesday are two girls from completely different backgrounds who share a close bond linked with both of them becoming a musician.

13. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba
Tanjiro Kamado is a family-oriented kind-hearted person who is on his way to becoming a demon slayer to kill all the demons who attacked and killed his family long ago and turned his sister into a demon-human hybrid.
Demon Slayer is known for its power-packed action sequences, jam-packed animation and it’s stunning storyline.
14. Dorohedoro
Caiman was a normal human being, until one day, he wasn’t. Living his life as a reptilian-headed amnesiac in a dystopian and violin world, where sorcerers preyed on innocent civilians and transformed them into un-humane creatures.

The series is what we will label as a comedy with brains and jam-packed action sequences.
And mind you, this one is a treat for sore eyes, due to its stunning visuals and whatnot.
16. Hunter x Hunter
A violent, extremely despicable, and R-rated anime, so yeah, not something that you can watch with your kids or anyone as a matter of fact.
Hunter x Hunter is a different title in our list, that’s a little unusual from the rest of them.
There’s cannibalism involved, and for the rest you have to stream all 165 episodes to devour (pun intended) the epic storyline.
17. Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure
Well, we have a lot to say about this one, but words somehow fail to describe the majestic epicness this one has to offer.
Men with absurdly weird names are walking around extremely overdressed with poses straight out of a Paris Fashion week photoshoot.
And the truly bizarre part about this one is that it is actually bizarre with no real plot or storyline to follow, yet it’s truly a treat to watch.
18. Neon Genesis Evangelion
Yet another anime with another set of alien invasions that has brought upon an apocalypse on the human race.
But humans too are a force to be reckoned with, and no matter what, one will always be there to protect their planet.

Just 14 years old, he was handed over the “Evangelion”, a massive bio-weapon with a mind of its own to fight the aliens. Will he be able to work with the mysterious creature and save the earth?
19. Rilakkuma And Kaoru
If you are into cutesy animes with super annoying but extremely hard-to-hate characters, this is another one from that lot. Similar to Aggretsuko, Rilakkuma is a hybrid bear with a zipper on its back who loves to procrastinate and laze around while doing nothing.
This series follows a different art style from its other counterparts, and that’s what makes it super unique.
20. Violet Evergarden
A 13 episode series, Violet Evergarden is a story about a girl with the same name, who was once a soldier in the army, used as a killing machine, left with no emotions and feelings of her own.
She is soon discharged after she loses both her arms and is sent back into the civilization as a ghostwriter, who later starts to wake up from the long slumber of detachment.
